Walk in Beauty

The term ‘Walk in Beauty’ comes from the Navajo philosophy of ‘The Beauty Way’. To walk in beauty means to live in harmony with nature and all living things, with our Creator, others and with ourself.

The Beauty Way path is a lifelong journey that requires commitment, perseverance and strong moral character. We must be able to distinguish between right and wrong, and willing to live a life that seeks goodness. We must dedicate time to following The Beauty Way Path without neglecting our responsibilities to our family and community.

It is not an easy path. We will encounter resistance and we must learn to live through negative times. We must be determined to always remain on The Beauty Way Path and resist the temptation to take easier paths. Because once we leave The Beauty Way path, we may get lost and never find our way back.

It is important to remember that we cannot do it alone. We will need to develop a spiritual relationship with our Creator through prayer. We can also make the journey easier for ourself by associating with like-minded people and developing basic skills that can help us find our way.

The rewards of The Beauty Way Path are Joy, Happiness, Confidence and Peace. And having this is the purpose of life.

Navajo Beauty Way Prayer

From here now may I walk in Joy, Happiness, Confidence and Peace.
With it all around me and within me.
Let there be Joy, Happiness, Confidence and Peace before me,
Let there be Joy, Happiness, Confidence and Peace behind me,
Let there be Joy, Happiness, Confidence and Peace below me,
Let there be Joy, Happiness, Confidence and Peace above me.

Before me, behind me, below me and above me represent the trail we need to stay on. If we get off to the left or the right, we might get lost, and we may not be able to find our way back to The Beauty Way Path.
